My definition of an effective prayer is this; it is a prayer that is uttered with sincerity, humility, in faith to God and is in-line with God’s word. It is a prayer that surrenders completely to the power and will of God for our lives and others in all things. This prayer is very powerful and effective because it is faith based and it is in reverence of the Being of God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. James 5:16b, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person, makes tremendous power available.
An excellent example of an effective prayer is a prayer that includes praises, worship, thanksgiving and Bible scriptures to God, regardless of all circumstances; whether good or bad, using appropriate Bible verses that pertain to your situation, using the name of Jesus and the Blood of Jesus.
An effective prayer is not quantified by its length and many words that we utter, but what gives it substance and power is faith, truth, love, knowledge of God’s word and promises, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Humility is a major key also when it comes to praying effectively because it allows us to go to God throne of Grace and seek Him earnestly, in Spirit and in Truth. Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
